While DICE has opted to go back in time for its own triple-A shooter this year with Battlefield 1, Infinity Ward has thrown caution to the wind and chosen to pursue a traditionally more risky route by setting this year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in a future where wars are no longer restricted to being inside Earth’s atmosphere, but also in the vast expanse of space that surrounds it.
There’s still a few weeks to go until Infinite Warfare makes contact with Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but in order to help fans get pumped for the fight that awaits on November 4, Activision has released the official launch trailer for the ambitious FPS and boy, does it look look epic.
Yes, that’s a word that’s used far too frequently as a descriptor for big-name titles, but there’s really no other word better suited to describing the events that unfold in the video.
Essentially a montage of high-octane set pieces, the trailer begins with Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harrington as the game’s main antagonist exclaiming his intention to eradicate the authorities of the Earth before proceeding to flit between several war zones both on and off-world.
If the footage is anything to go by, there isn’t going to be any downtime, at all, in Infinite Warfare‘s campaign mode. Of course, if you’re a PlayStation 4 owner, you’ve likely had plenty of time with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s multiplayer counterpart, what with the ongoing beta that’s just been extended, but we can’t wait to see how the game’s single-player portion stacks-up.
Roll on November 4.
