Shadows of Evil is the name, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the game. As promised, developer Treyarch has lifted the veil on its brand new version of the series’ fan-favorite Zombies Mode, which will take the undead action back to where it all began: the 1940s.
In keeping with the tradition of the more recent installments, the co-operative multiplayer mode will also feature a star-studded cast that includes Jeff Goldbum, Heather Graham, Neil McDonoguh, Ron Perlman and Robert Picardo as a mysterious character known as The Shadow Man. All of these larger-than-life characters will play as archetypes associated with the time period, too, including the The Magician, The Femme-Fatale, The Cop and The Boxer. We’ll let you put a face to a name in the bombastic reveal trailer above. Here’s a picture from the game’s official Twitter feed:

Perhaps the most intriguing thing about Black Ops III‘s Zombies Mode is that it will diverge from the futuristic setting of the core campaign and whisk budding zombie hunters back to the World War II era. As such, expect to have access to the weaponry of the time, though Treyarch noted that the mode will also make room for the more fantastical weapons such as a rocket-powered riot shield. Can anyone sense the return of the Wunderwaffe DG-2?
What we do know is that Black Ops III‘s Zombies Mode will pay homage to its roots by including a remastered version of the fan favorite Der Riese, replete with teleporters and the tempermental mysterious box.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III will arrive for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox one, Xbox 360 and PC on November 6.
