Capcom has just announced that a “major expansion” for Dragon’s Dogma will launch in 2013, called Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen. Additionally, the company plans to release a free title update for the game before the end of this year.

Outside of a handful of screenshots and a teaser trailer for Dark Arisen (all of which can be viewed below), Capcom did not reveal anything about the expansion but promised that more details will be announced in the “near future”.

Thankfully, the company was more forthcoming about the title update scheduled to hit Dragon’s Dogma later this year. The free update will add two new appropriately named modes to the core game, Speedrun and Hard. Speedrun Mode rewards players who finish the game within certain time limits with special in-game equipment, while Hard Mode makes the game… harder, and comes with its own set of equipment rewards.

The trailer for the two new modes is embedded at the bottom of this post, below the Dark Arisen media.

We will keep an eye out for any further Dragon’s Dogma expansion/update information, and let you know as soon as new details are announced.
