Ready At Dawn’s über-realistic Victorian shooter The Order: 1886 may have faltered in the gameplay department, aping mechanics from a generation gone by and, specifically, Gears of War, but there’s no denying the sheer beauty of the studio’s PlayStation 4 debut, and soon players will be able to capture that stunning aesthetic through the game’s new-fangled photo mode.
Announced via PlayStation Blog, the developer detailed the feature and how it will retain the innate cinematic tendencies of the mainline title through a number of bells and whistles that would perhaps not be included in your run of the mill Photo Mode. Per Ready at Dawn:
Want to see what The Order: 1886 feels like if you play through it in high-contrast, gritty, black & white? Since The Order: 1886 is completely rendered in real-time with no pre-rendered frames, you’re able to play in a customized look from beginning to end. If at any time you want to change Color Grading styles during gameplay, simply enter Photo Mode and make your adjustment. You can also reset the option if you wish to play the game as it was originally intended.
Giving players the ability to pause the action instantaneously, The Order: 1886‘s Photo Mode includes an array of filters and photographic adjustments to render the best image possible. Plus, according to Ready at Dawn’s Chad Verrall, users will be able to play through the entirety of the (admittedly short) campaign using different color gradients.
We’ll have more information about this latest patch as it nears release but for now, tell us, are you excited to take The Order: 1886‘s Photo Mode out for a spin when it arrives in the coming weeks?
