6) Rise Of The Tomb Raider
Although I grew up during Tomb Raider‘s heyday, the games never hooked me. I tried and tried to get into them, but never could and didn’t end up finishing any of them. It didn’t help that I wasn’t the owner of an original PlayStation console until near the end of the generation, and that the only times I got to play Tomb Raider were when I was at a friend’s or had a friend bring his system over.
Crystal Dynamics’ 2013 reboot, on the other hand, continues to be a personal favourite and stands as one of the better games of last-generation in my books. I really enjoyed it when I demoed it, and fell in love with it when I had it in my hands and started my adventure. In fact, I liked it so much that the announcement of a remastered Definitive Edition made me jump for joy.
[zergpaid]Given the above, it will come as no surprise that Rise of the Tomb Raider was one of my most anticipated games of 2015. I was overjoyed to hear that a sequel was coming and wanted to get my hands on it over just about anything else this year. And, in the end, it delivered another fantastic experience, although I still hold a soft spot and a bit of a preference for its predecessor.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a large, polished and very immersive game that takes things to a new level. It does so with bigger open world environments, more things to do and a more advanced arsenal at Lara’s disposal. There’s a lot to experience and enjoy, and you can lose hours in the game’s unique world. Of course, it helps that there’s tons of collectibles to find and a decent amount of puzzle tombs to explore.
If you’re an Xbox One owner, it behooves you to check out this great adventure.
