5) Batman: Arkham Knight
Batman: Arkham Asylum redefined superhero games, and its sequels have continued to expand upon its great bones. The last of those, of course, happens to be Batman: Arkham Knight, which concluded Rocksteady’s trilogy when it released earlier this year.
I know that some people were disappointed with what they received upon installing and booting this game up, but I don’t fall in with that camp. Although I will admit that I was hoping for a bit more than what this game ended up offering, and could’ve done with less Batmobile puzzle-solving, I found it to be an impressive sequel and a great experience overall. It’s quality, through and through, and has some fantastic mechanics that truly make you feel like the Dark Knight himself.
Like City before it, Batman: Arkham Knight is a large scale and epic game, which offers hours upon hours of content. It’s rich and detailed, too, with tons of fan service for Batman fans like myself. Sure, it may not be perfect, and isn’t as good as Asylum (in my opinion, at least), but it’s a fantastic experience overall and isn’t deserving of many of the criticisms it’s received.
