A new batch of DLC is headed to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in March; Cloaked In Silence will add three new maps and playable character Quiet to multiplayer mode Metal Gear Online. Konami’s announcement comes with confirmation of each map’s name and where they’re set.
Coral Complex, Rust Palace and Azure Mountain are the three new locations on offer and you can check out the finer details below.
- Coral Complex: A dedicated Motherbase environment, allowing players to access tall towers and use storage containers and other internal areas as cover for tactical advantage. Coral Complex mixes open areas and a myriad of hiding opportunities.
- Rust Palace: Set within Afghanistan, the Rust Palace is a large multi-level building. The skeletal nature of the decrepit ruin means that cover is scarce, while the internal areas are rich in dusty rooms and high-up sniping positions.
- Azure Mountain: An outdoor plain under Africa’s baking sky. A small cluster of buildings offers scant cover, with only derelict walls and occasional scrubland surrounding the massive rock known locally as the Cradle of Spirits.
Additionally, silent assassin from Metal Gear Solid V‘s single player mode – Quiet – will be made playable, and will come with the ability to temporarily go invisible and boost movement speed.
Lastly, a new Appeal Action mechanic will be included with the DLC pack, allowing players to pull off poses and emotes with their characters in a similar vein to ones seen in Bungie’s Destiny. Subsequent packs of different poses will be made available further down the road. If you’re not interested in any of that, a free update that introduces the new Sabotage game mode will arrive alongside the Cloaked In Silence DLC.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain released last year to rapturous acclaim, and it seems Konami has no plans of shutting up post-release support for the title, despite creator Hideo Kojima having left the company.
