We’ve got good news and bad news about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Well, ok that’s not entirely true; it’s bad news but maybe we can look at as good news if I break it in a cheerful manner. Valve announced today that they’re scrapping cross-platform play for CS-GO based on feedback from the beta.
Valve’s Chet Falizek spoke with Joystiq earlier and had this to say.
“The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC, to do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn’t hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play — essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them.”
It’s not too late to get into the Counter-Strike Global Offensive beta. All you have to do is fill out Valve’s survey.
Let’s be honest though for a moment. As awesome as cross-platform play would be, at least we don’t need to worry about people complaining that they’re being dominated by the glorious PC master race….
Damn. Not quite as cheerful as I had hoped.
