Death Stranding Won’t Be Present At E3 2017, Confirms Kojima

Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima's first game since officially parting ways with Konami last year, won't be present at this year's E3 convention. Confirming the news himself via Twitter, Kojima said, "Apologies to our fans, Death Stranding will not be @ E3 as we are fully focused on development," no doubt disappointing the masses who had been hoping for a potential gameplay reveal during Sony's keynote.

The Tweet, which you can see for yourselves below, does come adorned with a new teaser image, which sports a star-shaped spider web and an accompanying slogan that simply says ‘Bridges.’

No, we have absolutely no idea what it means either, but that hasn’t stopped folks over on Reddit from indulging in the usual session of speculation as to what it is that Kojima’s potentially trying to tell us. Given that we’re still none the wiser as to what Death Stranding‘s original reveal trailer means, it’s unlikely any meaningful answers are going to come forth, but we’ll see.

Currently only announced for PlayStation 4, Death Stranding is still without a release date, and with development likely still in the early stages, it could be a while yet before we see the mystery title in action. With that said, Kojima has previously likened some of the title’s elements to that of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series and, also recently confirmed that it will be built on the same game engine as that of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Actors Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen are also attached to the project and will play the protagonist and antagonist, respectively. The latter made his official debut as part of a new trailer released at last year’s The Game Awards, which we’ve placed above for your viewing pleasure.
