Pacific Rim and Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro has taken to Twitter today in order to share his uncensored thoughts on publisher Konami and its cancellation of Silent Hills. Posting on the site following the release of the latest trailer for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming Death Stranding at last night’s Video Game Awards, del Toro said “F**K KONAMI,” later adding “VIVA KOJIMA” and “Well deserved, Kojima-San! Banzai!” in reference to the Metal Gear Solid creator being awarded the Industry Icon award at the show.

In case you’re wondering why Konami isn’t in del Toro’s good books, it’s probably got something to do with last year’s alleged dispute between the publisher and Kojima, the end result of which saw the industry icon part ways with the company in order to form his own independent studio.

Kojima, del Toro and The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus had originally been slated to collaborate on the Konami-published Silent HillsĀ before it was canned. “Konami cancelling SH after PT is one of the most moronic things I’ve ever witnessed,” del Torro later added on Twitter, making reference to the hugely popular P.T. demo released back in 2014.

At the end of the day, what’s done is done, and Kojima has already bounced back – Death Stranding has certainly gotten people talking. No release date has been provided just yet, but the latest trailer released shown at last night’s VGA’s revealed that both del Toro and Hannibal actor Mads Mikkelsen are set to star alongside Reedus in unspecified roles. See it for yourself in the video below.
