6 Small But Important Changes We’d Like To See In Destiny 2

Word on the street - or, in more modern terms, internet - in case you hadn't heard, is that Bungie's knocked it out of the park with Destiny 2. I'd be lying, of course, if I said I had not a single concern about the long-awaited sequel leading up to launch, especially given the rocky start that the original had, but it's for those same reasons that keeping a tight leash on expectations is always a good precautionary measure to take. You know, just in case everything goes tits up.

1) Increase The Fireteam Size For PvE Activities

So, you and your clannies have had your fill of the Crucible for the day: what do you do? There isn’t enough of you online to do the raid, so you’re either left with Strikes or open world patrol. Perfect, both activities provide hours of fun and require no time commitment but oh, wait, one of your group members will have to leave before you can begin. And therein lies Destiny 2‘s most glaring issue.

In Destiny, the problem was far less pronounced: all activities had a maximum player count of either three or six, you don’t need to be a mathematical genius to know that one is divisible by the other. Thus, if you like your Destiny 2 playtime to have a little variety, you’re essentially going to be punished for having too many friends. An obvious fix would be to revert the standard Fireteam size of the Crucible to six, but why not give us the best of both worlds and expand the number of players allowed in PvE activities?

Potential performance issues aside, adding one additional Guardian to the mix for Strikes and sandbox content would make infinitely more sense, not just as a means of making the numbers for PvE and PvP uniform, but also so you don’t run the risk of having a shortage of players for more challenging content, i.e. Heroic Public Events. Sure, the Nightfall and, by extension, Strikes, would be easier with the additional pair of hands, but if it means no Guardian gets left behind, then I’m all for it.
