1) Lost Sectors
Of all the new features so far teased by Bungie for Destiny 2, Lost Sectors are perhaps the most interesting of the bunch. Unlike Adventures and Treasure Maps – which, while certainly promising to be terrific distractions from the inevitable gear grind, appear to be part of an overall Patrol revamp – this particular type of detour represents an entirely new venture for Guardians to discover.
Enigmatic symbols sprinkled throughout the entirety of the sequel’s explorable planets will indicate the relative proximity of each one, though discovering their entrance will, more often than not, be a quest in itself. Since their first mention at the gameplay reveal event back in May, Bungie’s likened their structure to that of mini dungeons – bite-sized chunks of content that house not just lucrative treasure, but a boss monster to guard it.
As of writing, we’ve still yet to be shown a play-by-play of how each Sector unfolds, so there’s still a lot of questions to be answered in regards to the diversity and replayable nature of each hidden trove, but for now, Bungie’s doing a bloody good job of pitching them to grizzled veterans.
However integral to the overall Destiny 2 experience that Lost Sectors end up being, more things to see and do in its sandbox can only be a good thing, right?
