As Destiny 2 steadily approaches its one-week anniversary, an increasing number of Guardians have managed to successfully put an end to the threat posed by Dominus Ghaul and his Cabal cronies, in the process bringing safety, once more, to Earth's Last City and earning their place as the Traveler's - and mankind's - protectors. Bungie’s well aware of the criticisms it faced in regards to the long periods of content drought that plagued the original Destiny. It’s one of the main contributing factors for Activision drafting in other studios like High Moon to help with the workload, after all, and already, it looks like the developer is taking a proactive approach to ensuring that doesn’t happen again.

As is tradition, Destiny 2‘s first raid is due to arrive exactly a week after launch, with the successor to Trials of Osiris – more on both of those later – scheduled to begin two days after that. Not much in the way of surprises, then – Bungie had communicated prior to release that both pieces of content would arrive shortly after launch – but there’s one particular item on its roadmap that’s sure to spark some discussion and speculation.

As of writing, we haven’t the faintest idea what Faction Rally is, but it appears to be an event, of sorts, that’s penned in for commencement on September 26. Behind the name, images of the three factions from Destiny, that is, Future War Cult, New Monarchy and Dead Orbit can be clearly seen, all but confirming their return.

For those that have already put a stop to Dominus Ghaul’s invasion of the Tower and sent the Cabal packing, you’ll no doubt have noticed that a portion of the ‘New’ Tower’s hangar is adorned with the banners of each respective faction, though each space is currently unattended by a representative.

You can likely expect that to change when Faction Rally begins, but what purpose they’ll serve remains a mystery. Judging by the name alone, though, it’s not a reach to suggest that Guardians will be asked to swear allegiance to one of the three groups, with suitably themed rewards lined up for those dedicated to their respective cause. Whatever the case, expect Bungie to shed some light on the matter closer to the start date.
