1) DLC 2
So we know that Destiny 2‘s first expansion is going to revolve around Osiris and the shady activities he’s been getting involved in since being outcast from the Guardian order, but what about the other half of the sequel’s Expansion Pass. To put it lightly, details on that are, as of this moment, scarce to non-existent, but like Curse of Osiris, the banner (above) advertising DLC 2 is adorned with a very familiar symbol, one that represents the Warminds.
For those that first entered Bungie’s sci-fi universe with Destiny 2, the Warminds are ancient, immeasurably intelligent and powerful A.I. that were once numerous enough to defend Earth’s entire solar system. Following the Collapse – the period where the Traveler fell into a deep slumber and mankind’s golden age came to an end – a large portion of the machines were either destroyed or deactivated, while those that survived were cut off from the interconnected network that they used to coordinate defensive measures.
To date, just one Warmind – Rasputin – is known to be in an active, functional state, after being brought back online during the events of The Taken King. Fleeting mentions by various characters aside, Rasputin’s presence in Destiny 2‘s base game is non-existent, likely due to his having an important part to play in Destiny 2, though interestingly, one particular mission on Io has Guardians venture underground to uncover a second, potentially intact Warmind. We’ll have to see what the future holds, but so far, Bungie’s decision to focus on two of the most popular parts of Destiny‘s extended lore appears to have every chance of being its best one yet.
