Hold on to your hats, Guardians, Bungie’s finally provided details on the long-awaited Spring update that’s headed to Destiny very soon. Having previously been going by the name of the far less exciting name of Destiny Update 2.2.0, the game’s April Update will roll out in full on April 12 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
As promised, the patch will be available free for all owners of last year’s The Taken King expansion, and will introduce the following new features:
- New PVE Challenges
- New and Updated Gear
- New Quest featuring the Blighted Chalice Strike
- Increased Max Light and Rewards
- Sandbox and Crucible Updates
Sounds promising, but is it a case of too little, too late? It’s certainly no secret that Destiny‘s been severely lacking in any meaningful content over the last several months, and since the release of The Taken King expansion towards the end of last year, fans have only had a handful of timed events to tide them over until Bungie committed to releasing something more substantial.
Whether this new content will be enough to keep players interested long enough until the next patch or even Destiny 2 remains to be seen, but it looks like the increase in max Light level will at least give way to some tasty new gear to keep Guardians occupied for the foreseeable future. That Taken-themed (above) armor does look rather pretty, after all.
April 12 is still a ways off, but Bungie’s planning to hold a series of Twitch streams every week to help tide you over until the release of Destiny‘s next big batch of content. Check out the dates and times below.
