Previously feared to be a Wii U exclusive, Eidos Montreal have announced that Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut will actually find its way to all platforms that the original Deus Ex: Human Revolution was released on. This is good news for gamers, as it means they won’t have to buy a Wii U to play what is being touted as “The Ultimate Edition” of one of this generation’s best games.
In an interview with Gamespot (interview starts 1 hour 25 minutes in), executive game director Jean-Francois Dugas and game designer Émile Pednault revealed that the the honey-tinged stealth-shooter, lauded for its cyberpunk leanings and visions of a dystopian future as well as its multiple endings, will indeed make its way to the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac. They went on to say that this was in direct response to multiple and repeated requests online, so democracy works kids.
Choosing the Wii U as the console to deliver this gaming experience was always odd, given the mixed opinions that it engenders amongst those in the games industry. The console is still finding its feet, so maybe this announcement is for the best.
Also featured will be overhauled boss battles, reworked graphics, improved AI, and all the downloadable DLC. No word as of yet on if these improvements will released as DLC for current owners of the game but it’s unlikely, given the capitalist consumerist society that currently exists. Come the revolution, the workers will own the means of game production, as well as the spoils. “From each according to his DLC, to each according to his DLC needs,” as Marx said.
Nothing from Eidos Montreal (or Square Enix for that matter) regarding a release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut as of yet, but don’t let that diminish the good times engendered by this announcement. Now get back to work.
