Listen up, kids – did you play the original Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii? Did you like the music? Well too bad – it was terrible. Aside from a few re-imaginings of classic tunes, the new compositions were forgettable at best. The music for the beach levels, especially, makes me cringe with boredom. That is, they would make me cringe – if I could even remember how they went. Luckily, Nintendo seems to have remedied this for the upcoming Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
The new trailer for the game comes via today’s Nintendo Direct stream, and it features what I can only assume is a David Wise composition – he’s been brought back to handle music on Tropical Freeze, after all. Given that he handled aural duties on the first three SNES games, it only seems right for him to return for the newest DK in all of his synthesized-bass glory. But I digress.
There’s a good amount of new, funny, interesting, and downright hectic stuff to be seen in the trailer, so be sure to watch for yourself to see what I mean. All I know is that I can’t wait to get my hands on a controller and start bonking those annoying-looking owls in the face with the business end of Cranky Kong’s wooden cane. The only way it could be better would be if King K. Rool was around to witness it – though I suppose that may be asking a bit much.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropic Freeze will be released on February 21st, so get your banana peels ready.
