Microsoft is pulling no punches ahead of the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider. As per the publisher’s exclusivity deal with developer Crystal Dynamics, the Redmond-based hardware giant will enjoy a one-year console lead time on the action-adventure sequel, and Microsoft is doing just about everything except shouting from the rooftops to drum up excitement.
With the Rise of the Tomb Raider-themed bundle and Collector’s Edition already out in the open, the latest offering for the hotly-anticipated follow-up is all about the game’s comprehensive season pass. As revealed earlier today, the package boasts a hoard of content to “extend your single-player campaign,” with the likes of Endurance Mode and the Expedition Cards making up some of those extras in question.
[zerggaming]Shortly after the game’s November launch, early adopters can also expect a trio of DLC packs to release within the space of four months, expanding some of the ancient lore touched upon during Lara’s quest to Siberia and beyond. At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether the Expedition Cards that Microsoft alludes to will cost real-world money, but we’ll be sure to update this post as this story develops.
Three major releases will challenge you to survive the extreme conditions of Endurance Mode, explore a new tomb that houses an ancient terror in Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, and combat waves of infected predators in Cold Darkness Awakened.
In addition, a steady stream of outfits, weapons, and Expedition Cards beginning on Day 1 and continuing over four months will keep you customizing, expanding, and challenging your friends to new adventures.
Lara Croft returns for Rise of the Tomb Raider when Crystal Dynamics debuts across Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10. The follow-up will then make the jump to PC platforms and PlayStation systems in 2016.
