2K Games has officially announced that Evolve, the latest title from Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios, will launch worldwide on October 21 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
Set on the planet Shear in the distant future, Evolve pits four player-controlled hunters against a single, player-controlled monster. While the numbers may not be in the monster’s favor, the creature’s ever-evolving state and crafty use of the environment promises to make this battle a little more fair. The multiplayer only shooter will feature over a dozen maps, additional unlockable monsters and hunters, a variety of game modes and other swanky upgrades for players to experience.
In addition to the title’s release date, 2K Games also announced a pre-order bonus for specific retailers. Those that pre-order Evolve from retailers such as GameStop or Amazon will receive the Monster Expansion Pack, which comes with the “Savage Goliath” skin, as well as an additional downloadable monster.
Although there has been plenty of controversy over the fact that Evolve is a multiplayer only affair, I’m still quite interested in the title. It has been close to 5 years since we least heard from Turtle Rock Studios and as a huge fan of the Left 4 Dead franchise, I’m interested to see what the company can do with this intriguing premise. If it’s even half as good as their last outing, then Evolve will definitely be a big hit come this fall.
