Fable: The Journey, the upcoming Kinect-based spinoff of the popular fantasy RPG series from Lionhead Studios, is currently scheduled for an October 9 release. However, those with a Kinect and an online connection will get to try an early taste of it next month, when a downloadable demo launches worldwide on September 17.
Microsoft has also released a new behind-the-scenes video for the game, detailing some of the lead characters, the environments players will explore, and Lionhead’s efforts to keep the authentic Fable mix of darkness and humor.
The ability to ride between levels on a horse and carriage is shown, along with the promise of the game world being three times larger than that of Fable III.
Hints of a new enemy simply called The Corruption conquering the world are also dropped.

Fans will have a chance to play “Fable: The Journey” before global availability in the first “Fable” Xbox LIVE demo on Kinect for Xbox 360 launching on September 17 worldwide. As the first “Fable” title built from the ground up on Kinect for Xbox 360, “Fable: The Journey” features new territories of an expanded Albion alongside bigger and badder enemies. The game also marks the return of Theresa in her fourth “Fable” game and greatest role as the spark that fuels Gabriel’s magical evolution.
