Like the entirety of the gaming world right now, we’re excited for Fallout 4. Ever since its official gameplay reveal at E3, the internet has been clamouring for more and more information regarding its finer details – mainly in regards to just how big its world is going to be.

Well, if the recent comments by the game’s lead producer are anything to go by, Fallout 4’s wasteland is going to be bloody massive and so dense with content that not even its creators have seen everything there is to do. So says Producer Jeff Gardiner himself.

I’ve played the game for probably 400 hours, and I’m still finding stuff that I haven’t seen.

Much of this, however, is down to sheer depth and complexity of Fallout 4’s crafting system and what you can do with it, as Gardiner explains.

For the larger building stuff it’s not stored in your inventory, it’s in the workbench that you’re using in that area. I de-constructed this and it’s all stored over her [sic] and then when I go to build it’s pulling from that inventory of stuff I have.

Finally, Gardiner continues to explain in-depth how the crafting system works, how it’s entirely built on logical thought processes and the many different choices the player has in what they build.

It’s all common sense visual stuff. If it doesn’t connect to the generator, the power doesn’t work. You can actually flag stuff to say ‘I’m looking for this stuff because I want to make this’ which means that when you’re scavenging anything that fulfils the requirement gets flagged in the world. When you connect stuff to the computer terminal you have a lot of control and sort of fine tuning. If you’ve got something that plays music, you can actually define how it’s playing music.
