With fans still reeling from yesterday’s announcement, Bethesda has released a string of high-res screenshots for Fallout 4, while numerous retailers have listed the studio’s RPG sequel for a 2015 release.
At the time of writing, the publisher is remaining tight-lipped regarding a release window, and didn’t specify anything during yesterday’s reveal aside from confirming Fallout 4‘s place on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
From Amazon to UK retailer GAME, GameStop to Bethesda’s digital storefront, all of these outlets have advertised the sequel ahead of its seemingly all-but-confirmed launch later this year. Mind you, there’s a chance that said window could simply be a placeholder until the publisher is fit and ready to set something in stone, and we likely won’t hear any official word until Bethesda takes to the stage at its E3 conference on June 14.
If history has taught us anything though, it’s that the studio does favor the winter release window, with the likes of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas all releasing between October and November of their respective launch years. Whatever the due date turns out to be, Game Director Todd Howard simply can’t wait to share more about Fallout 4, and told fans to look forward to the worldwide premiere in a just over a week’s time.
“We know what this game means to everyone. The time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever. We’ve never been more excited about a game, and we can’t wait to share it.”
