Although Bethesda had made it quite clear when Fallout 4 launched in November last year that official modding tools wouldn’t be available on release, their disclaimer hasn’t made the wait any easier.
However, five months on, Bethesda has finally let the service loose upon the world. Starting today, amateur modders can access the aptly-named Creation Kit menu by downloading the game’s 1.5 update in Steam Beta. If you’re having trouble getting it up and running, they’ve released a handy step by step walkthrough.
- Log into Steam
- Right Click on Fallout 4 in your Library
- Select Properties
- Select Betas
- A drop down menu will appear. Select beta
- Wait a few minutes and Fallout 4 should update
- When done, Fallout 4 should appear as Fallout 4 [Beta] in your Library
Of course, there’s the small matter of when this will all be made available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players. Not to worry though, you haven’t been forgotten about! Owners of the former platform can expect to see mod compatibility arrive in May, and a month later for the latter.
We think Bethesda speaks for us all when they say they can’t wait to see what sorts of cool new content players come up with over the next few months, but it’s going to be tough to beat that bonkers Thomas The Tank Engine one.
If you’ve got any feedback to give on the Fallout 4‘s Creation Kit, you can voice your opinions by heading over to their official forums.
