Taking a step back from the recent controversy surrounding the titular organization, EA Sports has formally unveiled FIFA 16 that will feature female national teams for the first time in the series’ 22-year history.
In a move that has been long overdue for such a prestigious franchise, the launch trailer hints at some of the nationalities represented in this year’s installment in the studio’s mega-franchise, including the USA, Australia, Brazil, England, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Spain.
According to EA Sports chief David Rutter, FIFA 16 will once again strive to deliver an authentic sports experience when it debuts in September, all the while detailing the creative process behind capturing and rendering the nuances of the women’s national teams.
“Bringing some of the best women’s players and teams in the world to our franchise is a massive event for EA Sports, and we are equally excited about bringing millions of fans a new way to play.
“We’re making sure fans get an authentic experience when playing with Women’s National Teams thanks to our innovative player capture and reference tools, as well as the sophisticated gameplay platform which we will continue to innovate on in FIFA 16.”
Expect much more information and gameplay footage from FIFA 16 to be presented during EA’s E3 conference in a few weeks’ time. As for when we can expect this year’s entry in the long-running series, the studio has slated it for release on September 25 – though at this point, it remains unclear what platforms are included.
