Announced to thunderous applause at last year’s E3, Final Fantasy VII Remake had gamers in tear of joy as they marvelled at the second coming of one of the most popular RPGs ever made, that is until they were hit with the sharp realization that the game would be released as multi-part series. The revelation rather dampened the romance of the announcement and spelt out all too vividly that the financial opportunity is very much at the heart of Square Enix’s motivation to remake Final Fantasy VII, and the publisher is going to do all they can to milk their cash cow.
Of course, it would be unfair to suggest the team behind Final Fantasy VII Remake aren’t dedicated to producing a fantastic game, but many people seem to share a concern that it isn’t going to be quite the reimagined version they had hoped for. The point is, there’s you’re your run of the mill remakes, and then there is Final Fantasy VII Remake.
It’s one thing for Capcom to remake the original Resident Evil, or for Insomniac Games to reboot Ratchet and Clank, but Final Fantasy VII is an altogether more delicate matter. This is hallowed ground, a cherished and beloved legend that is about as nostalgic as gaming gets for kids of the 90s, and fans aren’t going to be happy unless the remake is executed with care and attention.
Obviously, fans are going to have to accept that Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to chop, change and condense aspects of the original game. There will be alterations and not all of them are going to be welcomed, but there are certain scenes from the original that represent the essence of what made Final Fantasy VII such an immense success.
So, on that note, we’ve put together 5 scenes in particular that the remake absolutely needs to nail if it’s going to recapture the heart and soul of the original. If it doesn’t get at least these 5 scenes right, there’s going to be big trouble.
