Clarifying something which we originally reported on back in December, Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be coming to the PlayStation 4 on April 14th. Director Naoki Yoshida revealed the news today, as well as the fact that pre-orders for the title can now be placed.
Those looking to experience the MMO on the PlayStation 4 will not have to wait long though, as Square Enix re-confirmed that the beta for Final Fantasy XIV will begin on February 22. Those that already own the PlayStation 3 version of the game will also be able to take part in this beta for no additional cost.
In addition to the release date news, Yoshida also revealed that a special collector’s edition of the game will be made available and will contain all of the collectibles that came with the previously released special editions for PC and PlayStation 3, as well as a Fat Chocobo Mount and Moogle Minion. Gamers who have already been playing the title on the PC and PlayStation 3 will be gifted those items free of charge as well.
After a rocky initial launch, Final Fantasy XIV managed to come into its own near the end of 2013. We gave the game an excellent review back when we reviewed the PC version and I’m sure this upcoming PlayStation 4 edition will be just as good.
Tell us, are you excited to check out Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn?
