It was held up as a defining moment in the game’s prolonged development history and sure enough, last night’s Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event heralded news of a September 30 release date, multiple pre-order bonuses and even a CG feature film starring Aaron Paul and Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey.
Those eager to get a taste of the JRPG sequel ahead of time can also download the free Platinum Demo for Final Fantasy XV, introducing a much younger Noctis as he explores a strange dreamworld. There, he’ll be joined by Carbuncle, a guardian that will go on to become a summon in the final game should you complete the vertical slice.
Digging deeper into Square’s info dump, a animated tie-in series was also showcased during last night’s event. Entitled Brotherhood, the five-part season is designed to flesh out the backstory of Prince Noctis and his loyal friends – Ignis, Prompto and Gladiolus.

BROTHERHOOD FINAL FANTASY XV is a new anime series consisting of five standalone episodes. BROTHERHOOD delves into the extraordinary friendships between Crown Prince Noctis and his three comrades, setting the stage for the adventure players will set out upon in the action-packed RPG. Subsequent episodes will be released before the game’s launch. All episodes can be streamed for free.
Square Enix has asked fans to keep their peepers peeled on the official Final Fantasy XV YouTube channel, where new episodes of the Brotherhood anime series will be rolled out in the coming months.
