It’s been a rather competitive holiday season when it comes to video games. With releases such as Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, there are plenty of titles vying for the attention (and wallets) of gamers. However, the ones which topped Amazon’s bestselling list may surprise you a little.
While the online retail giant didn’t go into any specifics, they did say in a press release (via Gamespot) that Pokemon Sun, Pokemon Moon and Final Fantasy XV were the three best-selling games across the site during the holiday shopping period. We aren’t entirely sure what period of time this covers, but seeing as how the shopping season officially kicks off in America following Thanksgiving, we’re willing to bet it spans the tail end of November and a majority of December.
[wgtc_youtube video_id=”VGilQTiRyGc”]These sales trends for both games aren’t a huge surprise of course. While it’s not a complete indication of units sold, Square Enix announced last month that Final Fantasy XV had shipped 5 million units total, making it the fastest-selling game in the series to date. While it didn’t necessarily top the charts in every region, Pokemon Sun and Moon have also been making waves, and were Nintendo’s fastest selling games in the UK when they launched last month.
If you haven’t yet tried any of these titles out, be sure to check out our reviews for both Final Fantasy XV and Pokemon Sun and Moon, which all received a 4.5/5 from our gaming editor Joseph Meli. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for Amazon’s Digital Day sale, which kicks off tomorrow.
