As promised, Square Enix hosted the latest Active Time Report over the course of the weekend, revealing a whole host of new information pertaining to Final Fantasy XV and, crucially, when we’ll catch wind of an official release date.
Pegged for March 30 at 7:00pm PT, the event itself is to be presented by Greg Miller and Tim Gettys of Kinda Funny fame, promising “major announcements and surprises,” with all signs pointing to Square finally narrowing down the sequel’s vague 2016 release window. Said event will be hosted in Los Angeles, and budding fans in the area can purchase tickets via the company’s website. For those of you who can’t make it, rest assured, Final Fantasy Uncovered will be broadcast via Twitch and Square’s own YouTube channel.
In related news, according to Game Director Hajime Tabata, Final Fantasy XV is nearing completion as evidenced by today’s set of stunning screenshots. Alongside the new details, Saturday’s Active Time Report introduced fans to Aranea Highwind, the “skilled aerial combatant” you can glimpse in the gallery above. Tabata also teased further info regarding the Niflheim empire, how magic works in the game, and some of the incremental changes that have been implemented since last year’s Episode Duscae demo. You can find details for all of the above in the archived ATR.
Final Fantasy XV is set for a release across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point in 2016, and we can expect to hear much more about the JRPG in little over a month’s time.
