The first batch of custom-made Xbox One controllers designed directly by those that buy them have begun to ship today, Microsoft has announced. Introduced as part of an initiative dubbed Xbox Design Lab during this year’s E3, the service boasts over 8 million different color combinations, and allows customers to tailor every part of the gamepad to their own tastes. If you’ve ever wanted an Xbox One controller with lime green thumbsticks, this is where you do it.
Although we imagine a great deal of Xbox fans completely forgot about the Design Lab announcement following the arguably more exciting reveal of Project Scorpio, it appears as if the idea has been a resounding success for the company. Microsoft says that, since launch, the website has recorded “millions of visits to the site,” as well as “hundreds of thousands of designs saved and shared” throughout various social media sites.
Along with the various different colors you can have splashed across the controller, the site also offers the opportunity to have your name, Gamertag or a personal message engraved on the face for an added personal touch.
Current and existing orders should be delivered by early September, says Microsoft, with all future orders expected to take up to 14 business days. The service is currently only available in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
