Sony has announced plans to delay From Software’s PlayStation 4-exclusive Bloodborne by one month.
Initially, the studio’s Dark Souls-esque title was scheduled to arrive on the company’s current-gen console in February, though the publisher has opted to postpone the RPG to March 24th in the United States, citing the need for extra development time.
Taking to the PlayStation Blog, Masaaki Yamagiwa — a producer at Sony’s Japan Studio — eempathized with fan frustration but stated that, ultimately, Bloodborne will be a better, more refined experience in the long run.
“Unfortunately, I’m here today to announce a short delay to the release date, as we need a few more weeks to deliver you the best possible final experience.
“We were really grateful for all the player data and feedback we received from those who took part in our recent limited alpha test, and this extra development time will allow us to better integrate these learnings into the game. In the meantime, look out for some exciting Bloodborne news in early December. Thank you very much for your continued support and patience.”
Undoubtedly, Bloodborne has been positioned as one of the biggest known exclusives currently in the pipeline for PlayStation 4, so news of a brief delay is somewhat disappointing. Still, the month of February isn’t exactly lacking in terms of new software, with the likes of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Evolve and The Order: 1886 already poised to compete for attention when it rolls around, so the decision to shelter From Software’s latest title away from those big-hitters may prove to be the best course of action for the studio to take.
Bloodborne will now arrive on PlayStation 4 on March 24th and March 25th in North America and Europe, respectively.
