Future Street Fighter V Content Will Never Be Locked Behind New Disc Releases, Says Capcom PR

Good news, Street Fighter fans; you won't need to purchase three different versions of the same game to access all of Street Fighter V's future content. This is definitely welcome news, as anyone who's been spending the last seven years beating the snot out of other people in Street Fighter IV will know how much of a pain in the ass the game's post-release development cycle was.

Good news, Street Fighter fans; you won’t need to purchase three different versions of the same game to access all of Street Fighter V‘s future content. This is definitely welcome news, as anyone who’s been spending the last seven years beating the snot out of other people in Street Fighter IV will know how much of a pain in the ass the game’s post-release development cycle was.

Three separate disc releases were made available for Street Fighter IV, all of which added new characters, stages and game modes, meaning you had to fork out for the same game not twice, but three times if you wanted all of the content that Capcom had to offer.

Things are going to be a little different for Street Fighter V thankfully, says Matt Dahlgren, Capcom’s director of marketing and eSports.

This is the only disc you’re ever going to need to own to get all of the content in the game, but we’ll be revealing details of how our post-launch content happens at a later date, but it will be good news.

Street Fighter V is still on track for a 2016 release, and if you can’t wait that long – a beta for the game is starting on July 23.
