Activision has finally released the first official gameplay trailer for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, nearly a month after E3. Backed by the punk sounds of Plague Vendor, it’s full of extreme sports action and does a great job of making the wait for the game even tougher.
Although it only comes in at one-minute-and-sixteen-seconds in length, this first look doesn’t skimp on tricks, advertising a plethora of moves that the digitized skaters will be able to pull off. This includes fan favourites like specials, manuals and reverts, all of which will contribute to some epic combos and jaw-dropping scores.
The tricks and gameplay footage all look great, but what Activision really hits us over the head with is the fact that multiplayer will be a big part of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, with support for up to 20 players in one session. In fact, the trailer’s adjoining press release promises that armchair skaters will be able to do everything they did in previous games with friends, as opposed to having to worry about going it alone. Things like completing missions, levelling up and unlocking new content, to mention a few.
On top of all of that, this brief but meaty trailer also showcases the game’s Create-a-Park feature, which will let players share their creations with the world. As a big fan of the franchise, I can’t wait to see what people will create, and appreciate that this feature will be included considering it’s essentially free (and practically unlimited) DLC.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will ollie onto PS4 and Xbox One on September 29th, for $59.99. Those versions will then be complemented by an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release, which will forego multiplayer and retail for $20 less as a result.
