GameStop’s Spanish website has posted a listing for a PS Vita version of Call of Duty: Ghosts. If the listing turns out to be true, the port is certainly in keeping with the “Ghost” subtitle, because its very existence is not something that anyone at either Activision or Sony has even hinted at.
It is important to keep in mind that retailer listings, even those from GameStop, do not a confirmation make. So, it is best to consider this a rumor until something official is passed down the old PR channel. The good news is that we will probably not have to wait long for a confirmation, as the game’s November 5th launch is coming up quick and we are assuming somebody will want to give Vita owners a heads up at some point. We are guessing that this could be one of the surprises that Sony is planning to pull out at their Gamescom conference on August 20th.
If the listing is correct, the biggest question surrounding the mysterious Vita version of Call of Duty: Ghosts is: what exactly are we being sold here? Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified turned out to be nothing more than a farmed out, spin-off title that was met with a wee bit of disappointment. Will the Ghosts on the Vita turn out to be the same kind of deal, or is Activision going to put some effort into making a proper port?
We will keep our fingers crossed for the latter, and stay on the lookout for any official confirmation of Call of Duty: Ghosts for the PS Vita. As soon as anything pops up we will be sure to let you know.
