It may not be the entire Halo 5: Guardians that some PC players would perhaps like to see released on their platform, but September 8 will see the release of something equally as good, if not better, depending on how creative you are. Starting from next month, Halo 5: Forge will be available as a free download via the Windows Store, allowing all who install it to create their own custom maps without having to boot up their Xbox One.
“On September 8, Halo’s most powerful and accessible world, level and game creation suite arrives as a free download via the Windows Store on Windows 10 PCs. Halo 5: Forge lets map makers, creative visionaries, and Spartans of all kinds build, share and play new levels, maps, and experiences across Windows 10 PC and Xbox One,” says the blog post over on Xbox Wire, which further adds that the inclusion of mouse and keyboard support, as well as for 4K resolution should lead to some truly fantastic new content being made.
Coinciding with the release of Halo 5: Forge will be Anvil’s Legacy (Xbox One only), which will deliver “significant updates to Forge mode on console that complement the Windows release,” while adding brand new maps, weapons and customization options.
If you’re wondering why the rest of Halo 5 is unlikely to make its way to PC, you’ll probably want to give this a quick read.
