When Halo 4 released, 343 Industries stated that the game would kick off what was known as the Reclaimer Trilogy. Now, Microsoft is telling us that this Halo trilogy will be more like a “saga.”
“While we originally said trilogy, we’ve actually expanded this to more of a saga, so we don’t want to limit the Reclaimer story within a trilogy,” the representative explained.
The trilogy was supposed to include Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo 6, though now it seems that the Reclaimer story may extend even further. Another interesting thing to note is that Microsoft Games Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer would not comment on whether or not the next Halo game would be a full out sequel or just a spinoff. This means that what was shown at E3 may not actually be Halo 5.
“It is the next Halo game that we are working on,” Spencer told GameSpot. “We will talk more about actually the story arc in the game and how it plays out; we’ve got more time to talk about that.” The only thing that Spencer would confirm is that the game is “a legitimate version of Halo.”
It’s no surprise that Microsoft is being very hush-hush on what they have planned for the Halo series and at this stage, it’s too early to be predicting anything. I would imagine that what was shown at E3 2013 is very likely Halo 5 although it could easily be some kind of spin-off, like Halo: Reach was.
Whatever it is, it’s just nice to see that the Halo franchise will continue on, stronger than ever, and that Microsoft has some very exciting things in store for us.
