As promised, Sony announced two new fighters for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale last night during their EVO presentation in Las Vegas, Heihachi Mishima (from Namco Bandai’s Tekken franchsie) and Toro Inoue (the cartoon cat mascot from Sony Japan).
Being a 17-year veteran of the Tekken series, Heihachi’s contribution to the All-Stars cast is pretty straight forward. He specializes at close-range combat, using quick and powerful martial arts moves that make his potential for combos “among the best in the roster”.
Toro is described as having a “unique stance-based fighting style” that gives him multiple different sets of attacks as he transitions between different forms. In his “Justice form” he is a close-range fighter, his “Torobi form” is used for ranged attacks, and his “Oni form” has a wide-area attack.
Sony also revealed a new stage called “Dojo”, seen in the screenshot above, which is based off the original Parappa the Rapper on the PSX.
Below is the concept art and announcement trailers for both Heihachi and Toro.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale launches for the PS3 and Vita on October 23rd in North America and on October 24th in Europe.
