Hitman‘s sixth episode arrives today, bringing an end to the episodic game’s first season.
The final destination on Agent 47’s whistle-stop tour of the globe sees the silent assassin tasked with infiltrating a medical facility in order to put to rest one final target.
The “climactic season finale,” which is set within the grounds of the “hyper-exclusive” GAMA private hospital and resort, splices traditional Japanese beauty together with cutting-edge technology, so you can look forward to skulking through Zen gardens, sushi restaurants and Japanese hot springs while attempting to locate your mark.
The release of Episode 6 sees the end of a long road for IO Interactive, who had faced questions over the viability of an episodic model upon the initial announcement. Studio head Hannes Seifert believes they’ve managed to meet expectations however, stating on Sony’s PlayStation Blog that the project has been “an incredible journey,” for them.
From when we first released our beta back in February, through to the release of our Season Finale today, it has been an incredible journey for us and for Agent 47. I want to say a big “thank you” to all you players making this possible. Together we’ve built and run the biggest and most replayable locations of any Hitman game and added new live content every single week since launch. It’s been fantastic, and although we have now completed this season, this is only the beginning for our ever-expanding World of Assassination.
Neither Square Enix or IO have commented on a start date for Hitman‘s Second Season or, for that fact, if it will even happen, but we’ve got our fingers firmly crossed – there’s certainly an appetite for one.
