Hot off the heels of a successful launch last week, Sony has just announced (via the PlayStation Blog), that the entire soundtrack to Horizon: Zero Dawn is now available for streaming. The soundtrack, which contains over four hours of music spread across 80 tracks, is a vast departure from the typical music you’d expect from developer Guerilla Games. Instead, Horizon: Zero Dawn’s soundtrack is rooted in driving tribal rhythms, backed up by vocal performances.
The soundtrack will be made available for other services and platforms next week, but for the time being, it’s available for streaming exclusively on Spotify. The release of the game’s soundtrack follows a larger trend for the music streaming giant, which launched a gaming-specific music section last year, which features scores from series including Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, and more. There’s also a handful of playlists designed as background listening for gaming sessions.
Horizon: Zero Dawn, which launched globally on February 28th, is already seeing massive success on sales charts. Not only is it one of the best new IP launches for Sony, but it managed to edge out The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, securing the top spot for video game sales in the UK last week. Its launch was also preceded by critical acclaim all around, making it one of the best-reviewed games of the year. Jowi, our resident gaming editor, had this to say about Guerilla Games’ latest offering:
Horizon Zero Dawn is a stunningly gorgeous game, an awesome open world action-RPG that overcomes the gameplay conventions of the genre by giving you so many options on how to tackle combat. It does stumble a bit trying to tell a cohesive story, but I was too caught up in exploring all the little details of the world to let that bother me. If you’ve got a PS4 and you’re looking to totally lose yourself in a fully-realized universe bursting with things to discover, there aren’t many better choices than Guerrilla Games’ fresh new IP.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is available now, exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
