A new job listing by Sledgehammer Games has revealed that the studio is currently developing a new Call of Duty title.
The listing, which has been taken down from Sledgehammer’s website, revealed that the studio is looking for a Senior FX Artist to “create the most exceptional real-time effects with hyper realism for [its] next Call of Duty game”.
Additionally, the ad specified that the prospective employee should have “solid professional experience and knowledge of the limitations and performance of current generation hardware (360, PS3)”, indicating that the game will be released before the next generation of consoles are launched.
Sledgehammer Games is no stranger to the Call of Duty franchise, having first worked on an unreleased third-person Call of Duty title that was canceled so that they could help co-develop Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward.
With Treyarch currently developing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and Infinity Ward working on an unannounced game for the next generation of consoles, it makes sense that Sledgehammer is being tasked with producing next year’s Call of Duty. What exactly that title turns out to be, however, is anyone’s guess.
