Now that the 2015 Major League Baseball season has come to a close, with the Kansas City Royals unfortunately taking home the league’s biggest honours, Sony’s San Diego Studios have revealed gameplay footage, box art and mechanical details for MLB The Show 16.
For starters, MLB The Show 16 will release on March 29th, for both PS3 and PS4, and will introduce a new Showtime mechanic that will allow players to slow things down for added control during big moments. Going further, it will also feature a more refined Road to the Show mode, which will be exclusive to its PlayStation 4 version. Through it, armchair athletes will be able to earn gameplay perks by training, experience improved gameplay mechanics and play entire series without having to navigate back to a menu.
What’s especially great is that Josh Donaldson, the American League’s MVP and my Toronto Blue Jays’ best player, will be gracing The Show‘s cover throughout North America. This is a big deal, because not only does Josh play for a Canadian team, but it’s the first time that a Blue Jays player has appeared on the cover in both Canada and the United States. Usually, a Blue Jay is chosen to represent the game in Canada only.
MLB The Show 16 is now available for pre-order, and is available in different variations. There’s the regular edition for both PS3 and PS4, as well as the $69.99 USD/$89.99 CAD MVP Edition and the $99.99 USD/$119.99 CAD Digital Deluxe Edition.
