]The first campaign DLC for Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide has been announced by Fatshark on the game’s official Steam page. Taking place within the sky-high walls of Karak Azgaraz, the Dwarven fortress has been overrun by the Skaven horde and it’s your job to wipe them off the face of the Earth.
Spread across three new maps – Khazid Kro, The Cursed Rune and Chain of Fire – you and your teammates will need to wrap up warm in order to take assault the fortress – it sits atop the snow-covered peaks of the Grey Mountains. First released on Steam, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide has since been made available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“The Skaven have invaded the Dwarfen fortress of Karak Azgaraz!” Says Fatshark in its description, adding that players will “Fight their way through 3 striking levels in this DLC for Vermintide, set among the snow covered peaks of the Grey Mountains. Battle the Skaven in the ancient halls of the Dwarfen Khazid Kro, made of cold stone and old technology. Explore the mountains in search of The Cursed Rune. Finally, make your way to the top of the mountain to light the first beacon and trigger the Chain of Fire.”
To the victor goes the spoils, too, as there’s two new weapons up for grabs for those that emerge victorious from their frostbitten clash with the Skaven. The Warpick and Falchion are potential drops from any of the three new maps, and can be wielded by the dwarf ranger Bardin Goreksson and witch doctor Victor Saltzpyre characters respectively.
Three new achievements are up for grabs, as well, although Fatshark has yet to reveal the requirements for any of them. No release date for the Karak Azgaraz DLC has been provided just yet, but you’ll be able to pick it up for $8.99 on release day.
In his review for We Got This Covered, Joshua Kowbel gave the first-person shooter three and a half stars, calling it an “eerie, well-done Left 4 Dead mod on the surface…players that soldier through disheartening dice rolls will find a replacement for their co-op and loot-driven needs, Warhammer fan or not.”
