Kiefer Sutherland Will Voice Snake In Metal Gear Solid V

The biggest news to come out of Konami's pre-E3 press conference wasn't a new game announcement or anything of the sort. Rather, it was an interesting new tidbit about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. David Hayter, the longtime voice of series protagonist Snake, confirmed earlier this year that he hadn't been asked to reprise his role this time around. Naturally, this sparked a lot of discussion among fans regarding who would take over the job of voicing the character.

The biggest news to come out of Konami’s pre-E3 press conference wasn’t a new game announcement or anything of the sort. Rather, it was an interesting new tidbit about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. David Hayter, the longtime voice of series protagonist Snake, confirmed earlier this year that he hadn’t been asked to reprise his role this time around. Naturally, this sparked a lot of discussion among fans regarding who would take over the job of voicing the character.

Now, Konami has lifted the curtain on at least one aspect of the still-mysterious Phantom Pain, and announced during their conference that none other than Kiefer Sutherland will be voicing

Snake. Series creator Hideo Kojima explained that they were looking for an older-sounding voice to reflect the status of the now 49-year-old Naked Snake (AKA Big Boss) for this game, and consulted Hollywood producer and friend Avi Arad for advice, getting Sutherland as a recommendation. The 24 actor’s facial expressions are also being motion captured for use in the game.
