Latest Fortnite Update Unvaults Popular Pump Shotgun And More

As of Fortnite's latest patch, Epic Games certainly seems intent on upping the ante for Season 9. To celebrate summer's return, the developer has kicked off a two-week-long event, 14 Days of Summer, to keep players' insatiable appetite for new content satiated. Limited-Time Modes - some new, some old - will rotate on a daily basis for the event's duration, each bringing with them a complimentary list of special challenges, but that's not all.

As of Fortnite‘s latest patch, Epic Games certainly seems intent on upping the ante for the remainder of Season 9. To celebrate summer’s return, the developer has kicked off a two-week-long event, 14 Days of Summer, to keep players’ appetite for new content satiated. Battle Island veterans that perhaps lost their favourite weapon or gadget to Fortnite‘s dreaded vault will assuredly be ecstatic to hear of their return to play. Sadly, however, these returning favourites won’t be sticking around for good. Like the LTM rotation, one new weapon will be unvaulted every 24 hours over the next fortnight and then returned back to its resting place. A disappointing limitation but a necessary one, given how problematic some of the retired items have proven to be in the past.

On the flip side, Epic has also detailed a collection of weapons that are being unvaulted separate to its Days of Summer event, one of which is sure to be a sight for sore eyes.

Check out the full list below:

  • Uncommon and Rare Pump Shotgun
    • Available in floor loot and Vending Machines
  • Shockwave Grenade
  • Suppressed SMG
  • Common, Uncommon, and Rare Revolver

In detailing its thought process behind allowing the Pump Shotgun’s return, Epic says it’s largely down to the feedback received for the Tactical and Combat shotguns. Due to their effectiveness, it’s “experimenting with a world where the Pump Shotgun joins the current shotgun lineup.” Likewise, the Suppressed SMG is being placed back in the sandbox in order to offer an alternative to the currently available Burst Submachine Gun.

How these changes will shake up the meta is anyone’s guess, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see snipers enjoy a rise in popularity to counter all the new close-quarters weaponry. Do note, too, that none of the above is immune to being placed back behind lock and key, so enjoy their return to Fortnite while you still can!
