While there were plenty of announcements and teasers at this year’s PlayStation Experience conference, one of the more notable reveals was for Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, the newest entry in the long-running fighting series which pits Capcom mascots against some of the most powerful heroes and villains from the Marvel universe.
There might be plenty of fighting games to keep us distracted, but the announcement of Infinite was particularly noteworthy, mostly due to the fact that the series has been lying dormant over the past few years. The previous main, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, released all the way back in 2011, and aside from a few ports and remakes, the series has been gone unmentioned during most major industry events and trade shows.
While we have a couple of trailers to tide us over, we haven’t heard much else about the game as a whole, only that it’s set to release sometime in 2017. We now have a slightly better idea on when we can get our hands on it, thanks to an interview conducted between Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano and 4Gamer.
More information is bound to surface at next year’s E3, but Ayano has confirmed that Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite will release sometime in the “latter half of 2017.” When exactly that’ll be is anyone’s guess, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted once we learn more.
