There were plenty of guests at today’s PlayStation Meeting, and among them were BioWare and Electronic Arts, who took the time to jump on stage and show off some of their upcoming titles, which are set to take advantage of the PS4 Pro.
For those who missed it, the newly announced refresh of the PlayStation 4 hardware will allow for better looking games, running at higher resolutions and frame rates. While EA mentioned that both FIFA 17 and Battlefield 1 will be taking advantage of the increased hardware capabilities, they chose to show off a technical demo of the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda.
The new footage, which you can check out above, is of a pre-alpha build running on PS4 Pro hardware, with HDR mode enabled. For the uninitiated, HDR (which stands for high dynamic range), allows for a wider variety of colors to fill the screen at once, which in turn allows games to look better, thanks to a more varied color palette.
As narrated by BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn, the video shows off Commander Ryder, who is quickly joined by his comrades as they explore a desolate space station. While you’ll be able to view the video above on just about any device, it’s highly recommended you give it a watch on a 4K device in order to see the game’s image quality at the best it has to offer.
While it was originally set to release sometime this year, Mass Effect: Andromeda is now scheduled for early 2017, and will be available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and, of course, the newly revealed PS4 Pro.
