Whatever it is that you wanted Capcom to do for the upcoming Mega Man 25th Anniversary, it seems the one thing you are not going to get is a new Mega Man game.
A post on Capcom-Unity by Christian Svensson, Capcom’s Senior Vice President of strategic planning and business development, warns fans to “keep their expectations in check” when it comes to any announcements regarding a new game starring the beloved Blue Bomber.
Svensson’s full statement reads:
“In December ‘some but not all’ plans for the coming year of celebrations will be shared. There are many moving parts and not everything will be done and final come December. No one has promised a game or even an announcement of one at that time. Please do keep expectations in check.”
While some might argue that there has been an over-saturation when it comes to Mega Man games, I would say that Mega Man 25th Anniversary seems like the perfect time to announce a new title. After all, the last Mega Man game, Mega Man 10, is now over two-years-old. Perhaps a new entry in the Mega Man X series, or even better, a Mega Man Soccer reboot is in order?
Mega Man 25th Anniversary celebrations start rolling out this December, then kickoff in earnest in 2013. Hopefully Capcom has something special planned, but unless they are outright lying, do not expect that to be a new game announcement.
