With the release of The Phantom Pain looming large over the sparse summer release schedule, Sony has ensured fans of Konami’s stealth franchise have ample time to reacquaint themselves with Big Boss by including Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes among June’s wealth of PlayStation Plus offerings.
Revealed via PlayStation Blog, the prequel installment, which sees the legendary spy infiltrate a Cuban military base, will no doubt act as the headliner. But the Japanese publisher is also ensuring its other platforms receive their monthly dose of free content, too. As such, while Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-a-Fide Edition will be rubbing shoulders with Ground Zeroes on the PS4’s Instant Game Collection, Cloudberry Kingdom and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger will be available to PlayStation 3 owners beginning June 2.
Here’s a platform by platform breakdown of the software PS Plus subscribers can expect next week:
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4)
Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-a-Fide Edition (PS4)
Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3)
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)
Super Exploding Zoo (PS Vita, PS4)
Futuridium EP Deluxe (PS Vita, PS4)
In total, there a four downloadable PS4 titles in the roster thanks to Sony’s cross-buy feature, and while PlayStation Vita owners may feel short changed when comparing the device’s freebies to its console brethren, Futuridium EP Deluxe is an addictive shoot-’em-up that suits the handheld’s tactile controls down to a T.
