Attracting over 300,000 video game fans in 2014, the annual Gamescom event is Europe’s biggest celebration of the industry that only continues to grow in prominence with each passing year. Now, with little less than two weeks until the trade fair returns in Cologne, Microsoft has announced plans to stream its upcoming press conference through Xbox Live for those at home.
Due to take place at 7am Pacific (10am Eastern), the platform holder will host its presser on Tuesday, August 4, and Xbox Boss Phil Spencer has already teased that Microsoft plans to place a heavy emphasis on the likes of Scalebound, Quantum Break and the Crackdown reboot following their absence from E3 last month. Beyond that, Spencer hinted that Xbox fans can look forward to “new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10” at the show.
By the same token, there are also a handful of titles that won’t be making an appearance, including Armature Studio’s ReCore and Rare’s Sea of Thieves, with both respective parties citing it is simply too soon after debut to warrant another trailer reveal.
In the grand scheme of things, Microsoft holds a significant advantage going into Gamescom in that Sony has opted to forgo the event in favor of the Paris Games Week at the tail-end of October. With a strong holiday line-up all but locked thanks to Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6 and the timed-exclusive hold on Rise of the Tomb Raider, the platform holder can now turn its attention to 2016.
Microsoft‘s Gamescom presser will take place on Tuesday, August 4 at 7am PDT/10am EDT, and we’ll have all the coverage for you right here on We Got This Covered.
