Naughty Dog Tweet Fuels Speculation That Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Could Act As Nathan Drake’s Swan Song

Bearing a rather morbid subtitle, there was always going to be speculation that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End could act as the final chapter in Nathan Drake's adventure, though Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann has added fuel to the fire by suggesting that next week's E3 2015 will be Drake's last.

Bearing a rather morbid subtitle, there was always going to be speculation that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End could act as the final chapter in Nathan Drake’s adventure, though Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann has added fuel to the fire by suggesting that next week’s E3 2015 will be Drake’s last.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the monumental banner hanging above the Los Angeles Convention Center, Druckmann posted the following Tweet that has sent the loyal Uncharted fanbase into a tailspin.

Whether the Naughty Dog dev is merely teasing fans ahead of the game’s appearance remains to be seen – the devil emoji suggests an element of mischief is at play – but one thing is for sure: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will mark a defining point in Nathan Drake’s timeline. Should that be the case, then it’s almost inevitable Sony will look to continue the company’s flagship adventure series without Nate at the helm, paving the way for an all new sub-franchise under the Uncharted name.

This is merely speculation, of course, but couple Druckmann’s nebulous Tweet with the fact that the upcoming remastered trilogy is releasing as The Nathan Drake Collection and the treasure hunter’s departure suddenly seems rather apt.

What do you think, though, is Drake’s fortune about to run out when it comes to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End? Or is Naughty Dog merely stoking the embers ahead of E3 next week? Let us know using the comments below.
